Our department is consisted of a routine laboratory including histochemistry, immunohistochemistry and cytology laboratories; macroscopic and microscopic evaluation rooms, and intraoperative frozen unit for emergency results. In department histopathological examinations (biopsies, tissue and organ examinations), cytopathological examinations (body fluids, pap smears, needle aspirations), autopsy (adult and infant), histochemical and immunohistochemical staining procedures are routinely performed and approximately 40,000 materials (biopsy and cytology) are examined annually in our department. Gynecological and non-gynecological cytological materials are evaluated by liquid-based cytology and immunflorescence method is used for specific renal and skin biopsies. In addition, gene amplification studies are performed by fluorescent in situ hybridization method.  

In our department, there are 11 pathology specialists including 3 professors, 1 associate professor, 1 doctorate faculty member, 6 specialist doctors from Ministry of Health, and on the other hand 5 research assistants, 4 information system specialists, 7 technicians.
