The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry was founded in May 2017 by Assistant Professor Alperen Bıkmazer. Our clinic staff is consisting of 1 associate professor and 1 assistant professor of child and adolescent psychiatry, 2 child and adolescent psychiatry specialist, 3 clinical psychologists and 2 child developmental specialists.
Our outpatient clinics provide psychiatric care to children and adolescents from 0 to 18 years of age, as well as consultation services for patients admitted to the emergency department or inpatient clinics. Services include: a variety of psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy and psychological, developmental and cognitve assessment.
Specialized outpatient services are provided in the areas of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Depression, Autism Spectrum Disorders and other neurodevelopmental disorders. We also carry out psychiatric evaluation of children and adolescents who applied for health board report.
The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry attach importance to quality as well as quantity in mental health services. Pharmacological treatments and psychotherapy services are provided together when necessary and internationally recognized standards in health services are taken as reference. The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry gained education clinic status in May 2019 and our training for trainees/residents will start in September 2019. There is a one-week internship program for 5th grade students in the medical faculty. We also invite renowned faculty members from other institutions at certain times and different perspectives are presented to our students.
